My name is Lawrence. I have spent much of my adult life rescuing cats and dogs, often footing the bills, and sometimes putting myself in danger. I never thought that I would ever ask others for money. But now I need help. I’m trying to raise money for urgent medical care for Little Miss Kitty.

In July I posted on Facebook about Kitty. I was desperately looking for a home to avoid euthanasia, as her guardian could no longer look after her, due to family and financial reasons. I finally decided, after much effort, that I would take her in myself, hoping to raise some money for her care.

After a few weeks of preparing my apartment for Kitty, it was discovered that she had masses (likely cancer) in her liver. X-rays, ultrasounds and vet visits have totally depleted my own small emergency fund. And I decided that moving Kitty would cause her undue stress and would not make sense at this time. So, she is still with her guardian. However, I am still covering most of her expenses, which I cannot afford.

The diagnosis is not entirely clear as yet. This is likely a form of cancer, but a benign condition is not yet ruled out. Further diagnostics (more blood tests, visits with the oncologist, likely fine needle aspiration with ultrasound) are needed to have a complete picture, but I simply don’t have the money to do her justice.
