Please Support Liyo’s Family from Calgary, AB
Donation protected
Malayalee Cultural Association of Calgary (MCAC) and St. Mother Teresa Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Calgary have created this campaign in the hopes that family, friends, and the community will help Liyo Mavalil Yohannan’s family as they go through this incredibly difficult time.
On July 10, 2022, in Spray Lakes, Kananaskis a boat capsized leaving three men dead and one survivor. This tragedy has shaken the community beyond words. Liyo was one of the deceased and this campaign is to cover the costs associated with his funeral and family support. Liyo is survived by his wife Abi, his children 8-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, aged parents, and sisters.
Liyo hails from Thrissur District, Kerala where his parents Yohannan and Alice live with his sisters Leji and Lexi. Liyo was the sole breadwinner for a family of 10. His loss has left the family in a terrible situation. Liyo was the most kindhearted, helpful, thoughtful, and caring person we’ve known. He spent most of his time with his family and friends, encouraging them to live an active lifestyle. His smile and voice echo everywhere he’s set foot. He was working in Qatar, before moving to Canada in 2020. He was in Quebec, Canada before moving to Red Deer, Alberta for 2 years as Health Care Aide and later settling in Calgary as a Heavy-duty mechanic for the past two months. The funds raised here are solely to ease the financial burdens of his funeral expenses, his family’s expatriation from Canada to India, aging parents’ medical expenses, education for his children, and support for his wife Abi.
Thank you kindly for any and all contributions as well as thoughts and prayers for Liyo’s family at this time.
All Donations from this campaign will be given directly to the Liyo Yohannan’s Family.
