My name is Jessica, and I am asking for your support as I was recently diagnosed in late October 2023 with Grade 4 brain cancer, the tumours were tested and found to be the most aggressive type of brain tumour called a Glioblastoma (GBM).
I am 35 years young and this news has come as quite a shock. I had a severe migraine for a week and my speech started to slur, so I checked myself into the ER as something didn’t feel right. After a long wait in hospital following a CT Scan and MRI, I was informed that they have found several brain tumours. My father died of brain cancer 4 years ago so this was hard to comprehend.
Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for Glioblastoma. It’s difficult for the doctors to give me a timeframe on how long I have left, it could be months or hopefully a bit longer if I respond well to treatment. I had a biopsy 3 weeks ago and will be having another brain surgery to see if they can slow down the loss of speech and loss of hand movement which is inevitable, however as the cancer is in the brain tissue and blood vessels they may not be able to remove any of it as it will be too risky to operate on, something the Neurosurgeon will only know once they attempt surgery. Once I recover from surgery, I will then go straight into radio & chemo treatment, which I assume will be an intense journey.
When the time comes I will be leaving behind a loving husband of 5 years (together 15 years), along with my mum, sister, nephew & niece. I aim to be strong and resilient and keep a positive mindset and be a light for others while I can.
As I now am not able to work and my husband and family are left to support me, any donation, no matter how small, is going to be greatly appreciated as we face this challenging part of life together. All donations will help to cover the medical and general basic living costs and reduce stress of income during this time.
