Please Support My Sister, Elisa Miller
Spende geschützt
A few weeks into August 2019, following a routine mammogram, my sister, Elisa Miller learned that the biopsy of a tumor taken from her left breast was positive for cancer. Upon further testing including a CT, liver biopsy, and bone scan, she learned it had spread to other areas of her body. This meant her Cancer was stage 4. We were in shock! It couldnt be real! They found innumerable masses in her liver, as well as her spine, pelvis, multiple ribs, and two areas of her scull.
She began treatment with chemotherapy and 2 biologic infusion therapies almost immediately after her testing was complete. Just last week she completed her 6th and final treatment of her 1st round of this combo therapy. A CT taken after the 5th treatment revealed that her masses had gone from a 4, 5 to a 1, 2! We are waiting for the results of the bone scan to see how those masses have responded to treatment.
She will begin participating in a clinical trial down in New Jersey at Valley Hospital called the PATINA trial. We learned of this during our visit to Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. Basically her oncologist is saying her treatment will need to continue indefinitely. This is how people with Stage 4 Cancer live.
As you all know treatments, testing, hospitalizations, and doctor visits can be very costly. Currently, the Bill's for her care are over $8000. The bigger issue is that Lee needs to continue working to help to support herself, her husband, and her 2 amazing kids. Their health insurance is through her job. Since shes started this journey, shes missed an average of 1 day per week of work for doctor visits or just feeling aweful that day. She is now out of PTO time. She will not have any additional time until September. This means any days off from here until September will be unpaid. Many of you know Lee and know what an optimistic, kind, thoughtful, and generous person she is! Please give whatever you can to help my sister and her family. She is a true blessing to us and we love her. Thank you and God bless!
