We are reaching out to you today with hearts full of hope.

Our great mate Darryl recently had major heart surgery in Sydney and since being home went down hill. Darryl was brought in by ambulance to JHH emergency last Sunday 28th May after rapidly deteriorating. He required an ICU admission due to a massive pericardial effusion (extra fluid collected in a sac around his heart). Darryl required emergency surgery to drain the excess fluid otherwise he would not of survived the night. This was touch and go and the family were advised that he only had a 15% chance of survival… Darryl made it through this surgery but the next 24 – 48hrs were going to be critical. The Dr’s advised that this had also caused severe liver and kidney failure. Darryl was hooked up to so many machines for breathing, IV, sedation, antibiotics, dialysis, blood controllers & chest drains.

On Monday 29th May Darryl had a major rapid response event due to clotting issues, which required him to need more urgent surgery on Tuesday (30th) morning, where they were safely able to remove an additional 700ml of fluid and clots and Darryl continuing to be the strong fighter he is known to be. The were heartbreakingly told so say their goodbyes three times! but he keeps on fighting.

Today, Monday 5th June, now 1 week on and Darryl’s sedation has ceased but he is still in a comatosed state, ventilated and on dialysis to assist his kidney function.

During this last week Toree & Denise have spent countless hours by his side daily. With Toree's mum, Linda passing, Darryl is primary carer for Scott, and since first having surgery in Sydney 1 month ago and to date has needed 24hr care to ensure he has the support whilst Darryl can't care for him and Toree needs to be with her dad.

We are all praying he will be ok - but it will be a long hard road ahead. The unexpected turn of events will continue to put immense strain on the family’s financial situation. As he fights hard to recover, we stand by his side, rallying together to provide assistance, care, and support for Darryl and the family, during this challenging time.

This GoFundMe campaign aims to alleviate some of the financial hardships faced by this beautiful family. Your generous contributions will directly assist with rent, bills, fuel, additional caring assistance for Scott as he now requires 24hr care and other random expenses like exploding ovens, NRMA assistance and a dead car battery.

Now it is our turn to give back and lend a helping hand to these amazing people that continue to make our lives richer. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference on their journey towards healing physically and emotionally.

Those of you who know the Diver clan understand what a wonderful bunch of people they are, how much they are involved in the community and that they always drop everything to help anyone in need!!
