Let's all stand together and save Chandra

Chandra is suffering from pancreatitis and is in the hospital from November 27th, 2019. It took two months to diagnose the disease and another month to identify the treatment. He was in ICU undergoing multiple surgeries for his kidney and pancreas failure. His medical bills have already mounted up while their family's income shrank. They moved to the United States two years ago, and in his family of 4, he is the sole breadwinner. It is hard for them to bear the medical and living expenses in the current situation. It took a lot for his family to fight this phase of life and a lot more than that to join GoFundMe to raise funds. Chandra is struggling to get through the illness with lots of courage. His family doesn't have to fight this all alone. Chandra doesn't have to be a family, friend, or anyone else you know, he is a father of two children who is waiting for him to be home safe and sound. "Let's all stand together and save Chandra and his family from this darkness." I'm Chandra's Friend, and I will be using these funds for Chandra's medical and his family's expenses. To know more about his condition, please read the below story by his son.

Hello,

I hope you are doing good. My name Sid, and my sister Lipi, we have started this GoFundMe page for my father. We have the world’s best dad, and we are fighting to save his life, as my dad battles “Pancreatitis.”

Mine was a happy family with my parents, grandparents, me, and a loving sister. I live with my parents in Atlanta, and my grandparents back in India. Things took a dark turn when my dad went to Texas for his job. He would visit us every two weeks, which lasted for two days, and this continued for almost three months. He promised to spend at least a week for Thanksgiving break. I wish that were true, I wish he returned home this time as safe and sound as before, and I wish he had spent at least 2 days with us happily. Instead, he came back with high fever and sickness. I could say that seeing his face at first glance because he turned into all yellow. However, he smiled at us, hugged, and told us that he loves us a lot.

As soon as we noticed that he is not well, we decided to take him to the hospital. In vain, all the doctors were in a Thanksgiving break, and we didn't know what was happening for 5 days. We had to move him around for a couple of hospitals because no one was sure what was happening. Then we got to the Emory hospital, Atlanta, after one of my uncles researched for a good hospital. Now we know what happened to my dad because Dr. Haack explained to us in detail. He got stuck with something called Pancreatitis, and if you don't know what it is; Pancreatitis is pathologic inflammation of the pancreas. Your pancreas sits behind your stomach, near your small intestine. It releases enzymes that help you digest food and also regulates how your body manages glucose. So, to narrow it down, my dad's pancreas was not working as well as his kidney.

His treatment had a rocky start, and we had a few scares we would lose him. The stress took its toll on my mother; she started fainting and taken to the ER for her breathlessness. My grandparents and aunt have come from India to take care of me, my sister, and my mom as we were no longer able to endure the pain. My mom is as strong as my dad, but deep inside, she had all the pressure by seeing my dad go through all suffering. I can imagine what my mom has gone through in that tuff time.

There are moments in life you wish that never happen to you, and today I am going through that phase of life. I have seen my father in the hospital bed battling for his life at the age of 11 years old, and they wouldn’t even let my sister and me into the ICU to see my dad. I am asking for help in a stage of last resort, and to be honest, it took a lot for us to share our family situation. I was watching my dad go through the treatment, countless x-rays, scans, MRIs, and some other tests. In the past 5 months, he had 9 surgeries so far. He has 7 drainpipes attached to his body; they have put holes in his body to attach those pipes. The pipes have to be changed twice a day, and It is tough for me to imagine how much pain he is going through in this process. He cries like a baby with pain, my mom and aunt hold his hands to stay still. My dad has been in the hospital since then. We do not give him any food, he is living on nutrients past 6 months.

At last, my dad came home though he has to undergo 2 more surgeries. The Covid-19 thing going around the world made them take that decision. He was a little stable, and doctors suggested taking my dad home and getting the treatment. A nurse visits him thrice a week to check his condition and assist the needs. We are unable to continue the treatment due to a lack of funds. His medical expenses have already crossed our pockets, and future surgeries could mount to a huge sum, which is unbearable for us. We told my dad that he cured to keep his hope alive. My dad is brave and fighting to be with us, and we are trying to stay strong and fight the battle with him and wait to see my dad healthy and want to play with us like before.

My dad is the only one who works in the US, and we all are dependent on his income. Now he has to take off from work for at least a year. I’m not sure how my family is going to survive this drastic year of our lives. I request all of you to help my family. We invite you to help us reach our goal of $200,000 so that my dad and our family can focus on his treatment and not worry about the building medical bills and expenses that lie ahead.

Thank you for every prayer, thought, message, and contribution. We are in this together. No one fights alone.
