Pledge in memory of Cam Benfield - Rock Hill Pride Event

In memory of our co-worker Cam Benfield, we are setting this Pledge which will be given to the Rock Hill Pride Festival as a donation from SimplePractice team members. This event is hosted every year by a local business, The Mercantile, in downtown Rock Hill from June 15th-23rd. ‘This is a grassroots festival solely supported by, funded by & run by Downtown Businesses & individuals.’ Rock Hill was Cam’s hometown and this event provides support and celebration to the LGBTQIA+ community within South Carolina. Cam’s impact on their co-workers was immense and their loss even greater. They were so successful in creating a safe and positive environment in which people can be their unique and authentic selves. They made all feel welcomed, embraced, and celebrated. Their impact within SimplePractice to help support LGBTQIA+ team members was felt by many. They championed the original ERG and were an advocate for all team members. They were instrumental in helping to restructure our benefits, pushing and fighting to ensure all folks with visible and non-visible disabilities were accounted for. Their work with our Engineering team contributed to the shaping of our Product and impact we have as an EHR. They were vocal, even when it felt scary, and advocated for the community and for those voices that may have needed elevating. They shared a passion to support many important causes such as their love of animals, wishing to be the change in their environment and passionately supporting and championing the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Their loss is felt by our team members, friends and family and of course their beloved cat Nightmare.

All donations will be going to support the Rock Hill Pride Festival. Thank you for your support to this Pledge.
