About Us:
Pledge of Love (PoL) also known as Indahiro y’Urukundo is a non-profit organization founded by a group of Rwandan and Burundian millennials living in different parts of the world with a shared goal of uplifting the most vulnerable in their home countries. This non-profit organization aims to empower young people in Africa to think more critically and strategically to ensure a financially stable and fulfilling lifestyle using their talents.
Our Mission & Vision:
Our mission & vision is to empower marginalized populations to reclaim agency for social change by equipping them with the tools and knowledge that will allow them to reach and maintain a good quality of life. Our goal is to make a sustainable impact and change that will last beyond our projects. Our current project aims to equip former street children with the skills they need in their country’s workforce while advancing their personal and academic development.
The goal for this fundraiser:
For its first project, POL is implementing a project-based learning education program for students of the Bright Future Academy. Bright Future Academy is a kindergarten and primary school located in Ruhango district, Rwanda. Which was built by Umuryango Network, a Christian nonprofit organization, that rescues homeless children and set them on the right path to become productive, fully integrated members of society by placing them in family homes where their emotional, spiritual and physical needs are met while equipping them with education and marketable skills. This school was built to provide a supportive and technology-enhanced learning environment for each student in order to achieve the highest standards of intellectual and personal development. The school has designed special remedial programs and extracurricular activities to help bridge the preparation and performance gaps between regular students and the majority of its student body, which is made up of socially, economically and academically disadvantaged students.
The POL education program will accompany these efforts by engaging the students of Bright Future Academy in a personalized and accelerated after-school program that includes journal entries for creative thinking and reflection, books and films with stories that children can relate to, mentoring and student field trips to learn more about the different opportunities available in Rwanda's workforce.
Our current project is expected to last 6 months with the possibility of extension depending on our funds and we will engage with 50 children aged 7-15 who will be directly involved in our program. We are working with teachers at Bright Future Academy to tailor our program to the needs and interests of the students and in the overall program implementation.
The money raised will be added to our personal contributions and will be used for:
- Student field trips (activities, transport, food & beverage)
- Vocational and creative thinking workshops
- Children’s books and movies
- Working materials (journals, pencils)
- Trainers’ Stipends
We are proud and excited about this opportunity to empower an amazing group of children who are resilient and deserve opportunities to live up to their full potential. We invite you to join us in our cause and we look forward to your donations. Urakoze!
