Hi, my name is Sprite. I was born in Wales in 1999, this makes me pretty old for a pony, yet I still feel young and spritely at the grand old age of 23.
My original owner brought me over to England in 2001 and I am still in touch with her today.
In my younger years (as you will see from my photos) I was an absolute stunner and my coat, had such beautiful dapple grey markings. Being born a Welsh section A, I was the perfect height for my current owner, her name is Danni she was 8 at the time we met and I was 4. I was Danni’s first pony and we enjoyed going to many competitions and if I do say so myself we were a brilliant duo!
The reason for sharing my story with you is to help George & Val, they kindly took care of me when I went into retirement. George & Val are Danni’s grandparents (also retired), I kept them active for many years until suddenly George fell sick. The people who are kindly looking after me told me George has dementia, they say it’s an evil, debilitating illness that effects the brain! George is now sadly in a care home and I haven’t seen him or Val for almost a year and they are struggling financially.
Every day George needs the help of two dedicated carers which means all their money goes on giving George the best healthcare he deserves. I know it’s not their fault but I fear I will sadly be put to sleep if funds can’t be raised to support me. The photo of me now a grey, was taken well over a year ago and the elderly gentlemen dressed in blue is George.
I’m still the same sassy grey mare who has a great deal of love and life to give albeit, I may have cushings but apart from that I am fit and healthy. I have been at the same yard for almost 20 years now and hope I can be lucky enough to live my remaining years there.
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to read my story.
Sprite xx
