***UPDATE***

IT IS NOT THE NEWS WE WANTED TO HEAR!
In May of 2022, our brother, John Turnbull, was diagnosed with Cancer. In April 2023 he had surgery. In September of 2023 he had a CT scan and we were ecstatic when he received the positive news that the tumour was gone. However, it was short lived. We have once again received devastating news regarding the health of John.
It is with great sadness that we must send out another appeal for help as John’s cancer has returned very aggressively. John is now in a fight for his life!
Many of us have had loved ones who have suffered with Cancer. Some have beat it, others have not. We would like to see John be one of those who beats it, completely.
In order to combat the aggressiveness of the cancer, doctors will need to be just as aggressive. He will need extensive evasive surgery and we anticipate a very lengthy convalescence. In simple terms, the freedom and mobility he once knew, will change forever.
We, John’s family, are asking for your help. While he continues to fight this terrible disease, he will need assistance to meet his many financial obligations as he will be unable to earn an income for a long time. We thank those who initially stood by John and donated the first time, unfortunately we fell very short of the goal and most of the funds have been depleted. Due to the severity of the tumour that has now developed we are asking for your help to provide what ever you are able to give and just as important to spread awareness to others so that we can reach our goal this time.
John has lived in Victoria all his life, as a self employed contractor, and may have worked on your home. Many know he is not the type of person who would ask for help, but he is the first to be at your side to help you. That’s John T.
Please, don’t let him slip away from us. He beat it once, together, we can help him beat it again.

Thank-you

*************

We have seen our family member, John Turnbull, struggle through one of the most difficult times in his life.
Sharing these details is a struggle knowing John is a private person and does not readily ask for help from others or share personal issues in his life. However, we are asking for your help.
As some of you may already know, our brother John was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2022. Throughout the aggressive treatment plan of chemotherapy and radiation, John was adamant that he could manage and did not want to burden others for financial support. He worked intermittently, when his health permitted, throughout the treatments up to the time of the surgery to remove the large cancerous tumour.
In mid September John had an operation to reconstruct his colon after his initial tumour surgery. During his recovery he experienced a vertigo episode, related to the cancer treatments, John fell 12 feet down landing onto concrete. He incurred multiple injuries, including 8 broken ribs, a broken collar bone, dislocated shoulder, fractured pelvis, punctured bladder (which required emergency surgery to repair) and kidney damage. Needless to say John will not have the option to return to work for a very long time.
As John has been a self employed contractor/carpenter in Victoria for over 35 years, he does not have the luxury of falling back on insurance/medical benefits to support himself for what now will be another very lengthy recovery.
John had to be convinced by his family that he has no option but to rely on the generosity of others via this platform to help him survive. John has always been a generous and caring person and we are hoping that he will be the recipient of your generosity now.
Thank you to each and everyone of you in advance for your generosity in helping John through your prayers, words of encouragement and donations.
We are setting an initial goal that may need to be amended at some point depending on his recovery duration and possible further medical care requirements. i.e. Surgeries, Physiotherapy, equipment rentals etc.
Finally we ask you to please spread the word to get this page out into the community that John has served faithfully for so long, to as many people as you can and share this link in anyway you can.

No words can express our family's gratitude for everyone's love and support and we thank you all so very much.

John and his family ❤️
