Winter Is Coming - Help Support and Save the Heart of the Plum Island Community and Beyond
The Plum Island Grille
COVID – 19 has devastated the world, country and our state, and has severely impacted The Grille.
We are seeking your support so we can continue to serve as a vital part of a social, culinary and business community.
The Plum Island Grille has employed over 40 local people per year for the past 20 years. It has also helped support other local businesses (by buying locally), musicians and contributing to local charities for over 20 years.
The Plum Island Grille is the Heart and Soul of the Plum Island and beyond community and a beloved landmark North Shore restaurant.
The Grille is a warm welcoming place for all to come and share their time with old friends and make new ones. Many friends have been made there, many couples have met at the Grille and a strong and close community has formed and even become closer at The Grille. I have even seen children grow up there and become part of The Grille family. We are more than just a restaurant we are a Family.
We were ordered to close by the state in mid-March (to meet safety requirements) and while many restaurants decided to stay closed, we did not just simply crawl under a rock and pray it all did not happen or would simply go away.
Rather we reopened, to both serve the community and plan for an eventual full re-opening with a lessening of the threat to our patrons.
We have adapted and changed the business model many times in a COVID safe manner to try to keep our employees employed and our guests fed. We turned The Grille into a Grab n Go grocery store, to go food, butchery and cleaning supplies for our loyal guests and our community.
The massive outreach and support from our community in the past year the has proven to me how important The Grille is to our community and I am forever grateful for this.
However, no matter how hard we have worked, and we have worked hard, this pandemic has significantly hurt our business and we need your support. Doing 45% of normal business with 100% of fixed costs has taken its toll and with virtually no support from the federal government it may be difficult to survive.
Winter is almost upon us and we don’t know what the future holds. Please consider a contribution to help keep a still beating heart of a community alive.
Forever Thankful,
Chef Francis
