Medical Mission Trip to Costa Rica
Donation protected
My name is Leah McFadden and I need your help and support to fund a medical mission trip to Costa Rica in March 2024. I have always had an interest in the medical field, as well as, felt a call to serve and advocate for those in need. I chose GVSU because I want to follow in the footsteps of my Aunt Jen to become a nurse. My aunt is my role model because she was a committed, caring, compassionate and competent nurse for many years. Even though Aunt Jen has since passed away, I know that she is proud of me and my journey to becoming a labor and delivery nurse.
On this trip, amazing volunteers and I will be devoting our entire spring break to traveling around Costa Rica to set up clinics in areas where there is very little access to any type of medical care. These clinics include general, dental, and veterinary care for those patrons who live in the area, some of which have not seen a physician in years. I will be working in the general care section of the clinic where I will be taking vitals, creating charts and overall helping the clinic run smoothly for those who are in need of the help we can provide. This will allow me to gain real health care experience as well as spend time helping those who need it.
The funds that are donated are greatly appreciated and will be used to cover the cost of the mission, accommodations and transportation. Most importantly, the funds go towards all of the medical supplies, vaccinations, medications, facilities, as well as the doctors and physicians that will be treating the patients. This makes your help crucial to the outcome of what can happen in these clinics.
To thank you for your sponsorship, I will send you a letter outlining my service and describing all of the once in a lifetime experiences in Costa Rica. Thank you for your consideration. Anchor Up!
