Cohen Family Fighting Cancer and Not Giving Up

I recently found out that my friend’s father’s cancer treatment is no longer working after five years of fighting the disease through chemotherapy and a clinical trial. At this point he has stage 4 colon cancer metastasis and his doctors have lost hope. Over the last few days I know the family have all been immersed in disbelief and grief. Therefore, I am reaching out to you all on behalf of Dr. Jose David Cohen’s family.
Dr. Jose David Cohen is a family man and a provider for his five children and wife. Jose is the epitome of the “American Dream” he comes from immigrant parents who moved to the United States to make a better life for their children and they did. Jose made his parents proud when he became a doctor of psychology. Not only did he start his own practice which has lasted for 26 years but has also been the main provider of his beautiful family and has worshiped every single one of his children. He has made every sacrifice possible to make all his children’s dreams become a reality.
His eldest daughter Sofia Cohen has characterized her father by stating “As a psychologist my dad has helped numerous people throughout his lifetime and has always helped anyone regardless of their finances or anything for that matter. He used to have patients that couldn’t pay him just give him tamales in exchange for his services, he’s never even thought about giving up on anyone.”
That is why I know his family and friends are not giving up on him. His family will be headed to City of Hope in the next week to see if there are other treatment plans that can prolong his life here on Earth. Therefore, their initial goal, and fundraising efforts will cover and supplement the following expenses:
1. Coverage for Jose’s cancer treatment plan advised by City of Hope that will prolong his stay here on Earth.
2. Coverage for the Dr. Cohen’s practice so that it will not be lost and his daughter can take over the practice once she is done with her degree.
