Paul's Medical Journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Bridget (Paul's wife) and the last 2 years have been a struggle for Paul with his health. 2 years ago Paul's transplanted kidney started showing signs of rejection to which UW in Wisconsin kept a close eye on things and had him follow up with a kidney doctor to monitor things on a weekly basis. In the midst of dealing with the kidney rejection Paul got fitted for some braces on his legs to help with his knee hyper extending. Unfortunately due to the severe neuropathy and the stroke Paul had in 2016 he didn't have much feeling in his feet which the brace on his left leg rubbed the top of his foot raw causing an infection. He has been dealing with the foot for the last 14 months undergoing surgery multiple times. Jan of 2024 Paul was hospitalized and dialysis started. Dialysis starting let us be able to get an angiogram of the heart which was the last thing to get checked off the list to be active on transplant list. Unfortunately the angiogram came back Paul needs quadruple bypass surgery. In the midst of finding out the news of the heart Paul's foot exploded on the bottom turning black which prompted another hospital stay which has turned into Paul having to have his left foot amputated. This is only the beginning of a long road ahead for Paul as he will be having his foot amputed tomorrow Feb 20, 2024 and once that heals we will move forward with the heart surgery then once he is all recovered from that he can be reevaluated for another transplant. We will need to make many changes to our home to make it handicap accessible. We are asking for all the prayers we can get in the days and months ahead. If you can help out it would be greatly appreciated to help with medical supplies, gas to and from hospital and doctor appointments, and to help with everyday living expenses.
