Surgery for Dixie
Megan is my best friend. She is the most loving, caring, passionate human being I have ever met.
The man of her dreams recently asked her to marry him, and they moved into a farm house where they could grow their business. They care for and rehabilitate horses. They are truly the best kind of people.
Megan rescued Dixie 2 years ago. She was the runt of the litter and Megan brought her home because she couldn't stand the thought that she may never be adopted. Dixie was only home for 48 hours before she had to be taken to the emergency vet and given a blood transfusion because she had hook worms and she only had 10% of the blood in her body she needed to live. Megan stayed by her side and did everything and more to make sure Dixie had what she needed. Dixie made a full recovery and grew into the goofy happy dog you see in the pictures.
Last night (Oct 24th) Dixie was out at the farm with her brother and sister (two other adopted dogs; Daisy and Hershey) when she didn't come back when she was called, Megan knew something was wrong. They ran out to look for her and Dixie came back limping and holding her paw up. Somehow, she broke her leg. She's an incredibly fearless and curious dog, it's impossible to tell what may have happened.
Megan called me sobbing that her baby was hurt and that they were rushing her to the emergency vet.
I made this because the surgery Dixie needs involves metal plates and screws which are estimated to cost between $4500-5500.
Please consider donating, any amount will help and mean the absolute world to Megan.
Please keep her, David and Dixie in your prayers. <3
