Brittany’s medical fund

My name is Jonathan Davenport, and as most of you know I am Brittany’s husband and caregiver. Once again we find ourselves fighting an uphill battle. For people who don’t know Brittany has suffered with Crohn’s for 22 years. Long before that she had unanswered stomach issues. In 2015 Brittany was put on a drug named 6mp. On December 3rd 2015 I had to rush Brittany to the hospital. When we got there Brittany’s sugar was way over 400. It was then we were rushed to the ICU department. It was there after more blood work we found out that her liver, her pancreas, and her kidneys were in failure. The doctors put her in an induced coma, but Brittany has a high medicine tolerance. She kept waking up and scratching and screaming. They had to put her in mittens and in hand restraints. Due to the liver failure she was super itchy. Prior to her hospitalization Brittany asked me to tell the doctors she wanted and DNR. I followed her wishes; luckily we didn’t need to use it. Brittany had to have a feeding tube, 24 hr dialysis, countless blood transfusions; and when she woke up she was having blood transfusions every other day. They were able to restore her kidneys, but were not able to cure the damage done to her pancreas and liver. Her liver and pancreas are permanently damaged. For her pancreas she take Creon to make up for the damage, but she has nothing for her liver. So that brings us to what is going on now. As most of you know December 1, 2020 Brittany had surgery; at the recommendation of her liver doctor, to try and save her liver. We were told she would be doing a whole lot better if we got it. We knew this was a huge risk. We weighed our options heavily, and for her to stay longer for Zachary we decided to do the surgery. It seems to have caused some positive, but a whole lot of negative. The surgery irritated her Crohn’s. Since her Crohn’s, Rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis are all connected she has been having major flare ups in all three. In June she ended up contracting yersenia. It cause her Crohn’s to get worse, and exacerbated her already severe anemia. As you can already guess from all the weight Brittany has lost; she is severely malnourished. On June 25th they put in a picc line for Brittany. Brittany hasn’t been able to stay hydrated. We started out with her doing it 3 times a week; then 4 times a week, and now it’s daily. Brittany also suffers from severe migranes, in appropriate sinus tachycardia, and Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Her neurologist added samatripton nasal spray to her regimen. She takes adjovy and a migraine pill as well. Her cardiologist increased her heart meds from 100mg a day to 200mg. If this doesn’t work they are sending her to an electrophysiologist to have an ablation. Brittany had an MRI on December 30th. They found Iron deposits in her liver, as well as a blood clot in her pancreas; and cysts connected to the tail of her pancreas. On January 13th Brittany was hospitalized for extreme stomach pain. She stayed in there for 5 days. During her stay we found out that her anemia has gotten even worse than it was before. She is walking a very thin line with needing a blood transfusion and not. We also found out she has cysts on her ovaries. Brittany’s MRI, and symptoms; coincide with her having iron overload disease. Her liver doctor has put in a referral for her to see a pancreatic specialist. They are also in the process of setting up a liver biopsy. This is where we need your help. It’s a new year and a new deductible. Our deductible is $4,000. We will have to pay majority out of pocket for her liver biopsy. We also have been paying a lot out of pocket for her medication. Both medical and pharmaceutical insurance have started over at the beginning of January. Any little bit we can get to help take chip away at our copays, and helps with her biopsy; is greatly appreciated. Brittany has seven different specialists that she sees, and copays are $35 and up. The sooner they are able to look more in-depth into her illness is the soonest we will be able to work out a treatment plan. I have also missed a whole months worth of work; because I have been staying home to take care of her. I cannot miss anymore, because I will need the time off for any other procedures she needs done. I will also need time off is her condition deteriorates further. If you are able to donate and help any little bit we would greatly appreciate it
