POC NORDIC TRAILS ACCESS FUND
Donation protected
*UPDATE* Thank you to everyone who as donated so far. Our first clinic filled up in 20 minutes! It is clear there is a want and need. We are going to aim to offer 4 Gear scholarships .
It’s no secret that snow sports have barriers for specific communities. Last year, Catherine and Nazanin raised funds through our wonderful community to help create THREE Nordic Ski clinics.
One of the mentees expressed, “I was motivated to attend this clinic because of the folks it was tailored to, and because I want to continue building skills in snow sports. I didn't have access to this growing up so it's been a long-term interest of mine.” Many had similar experiences and we are excited to expand this community.
Our goal this year is to offer at least FIVE clinics* as well as 1-2 gear scholarships. These funds will go directly towards renting gear, transportation, trail fees, etc. A portion of the funds will be donated to the local tribes of Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs;whose land we recreate on. The clinics will be run by volunteer mentors from diverse backgrounds and geared toward the POC community with separate clinics for trans and cis women, trans men, non-binary folks and all those affected by gender oppression, as we aim to create a safe space for ALL participants. Please help us break some of the financial barriers that exist in accessing the outdoors. Let's diversify those trails!
-Four clinics will take place at Teacup Mt. Hood Snow Park (Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Tribal Lands)
-One clinic will take place at Meisner Snow Park in Bend, Oregon (Klamath, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal Lands)
