Poesis Farm: a community project
Donation protected
Our story:
Since 2017 we have spent our summers managing Poesis Farm on the SEEDS property in Historic Barns Park in The Commons. This project focuses on growing food and flowers for donation, seed saving, and education.
Food and flowers for donation:
We plan to give away the food we grow to local food pantries and volunteers. We will give flowers to residents at The Pavilions and Hospice House.
Seed Saving:
Another major aspect of the farm is seed saving. We have saved seeds from the majority of our crops and we will continue to give away seeds to local seed libraries and people in the community. This year we have already donated hundreds of seed packets.
Education:
Hopefully we are able to continue to provide education around seed saving and gardening in person. We will keep you posted via our facebook page: @poesis.farm.
Volunteer:
In the past we have had volunteers on the farm, we hope to continue this practice. Please let us know if you would like to join us once we are allowed to gather!
Costs:
In order to fund the farm so that we can give away produce and plant starts to our community we have several costs that we need help with:
Insurance: $1000
Seed starter mix: $200
Seeds for food pantry donations: $100
Total for 2021: $1300
Thank you for supporting our efforts in the community!
