Poetry of Place Bike Trip

Support Aaron's bike trip to explore the poetry of place.

I love poetry. I also love maps and learning about the places where people live. In addition, I love to ride my bicycle. Over the last few years I have been gathering poems about people’s home ground: poems of mountains, cities, rivers and roads. Some of these poems I have discovered in published books, some online, and some through my friendship with fellow poets who have shared what they’ve made.

Finding little handmade chapbooks of poems describing the hill on which migrating osprey roost or a bustling street market’s rich blend of aromas and languages gives me great pleasure. These books are sometimes only found in the places they were made, shared by the author with a local bookstore, placed in a library’s collection of local writing, or simply cared for in the home of the poet.

Could you help me seek out these poems and poets?

I’ll use these funds for bike maintenance and repairs, supplies, research and related expenses as I embark on my trip this summer.
