Pond Village Community Chapel Campaign
Donation protected
The historic Chapel, which has graced the Pond Village community in Truro, MA, for over 100 years, is being sold.
Truro Conservation Trust pledged to hold the title to the land and building once we raise the funds — for a listing price of 1.5 million dollars. The Truro Conservation Trust will lease the building, long-term, to the parish, who will be responsible for all utilities, maintenance, and insurance. Miraculously, an anonymous foundation has already donated $500,000 toward the 1.5M goal! This donor has also offered another 500K in matching funds, so all donations will be doubled! So please give generously, spread the word, and share this GoFundMe campaign on all social media platforms. It truly takes a village to preserve such a vital piece of the community. We thank you so much for your donations and your help spreading the word. We cannot get there without your help.
Please join Pond Village neighbors, preservationists, Outer Cape faith communities, and friends in helping Pastor Brown and the Emmanuel Faith Ministry (501 c3) maintain the Pond Village Chapel as their parish home. Though the price tag may be $1.5M, we have made great strides toward that goal. Through GoFundMe and a letter-writing campaign offline, we still need to raise $500,000. Today’s GoFundMe part of that goal is $50,000. We will update this goal as time passes. But time is of the essence as The Chapel is to go on the market on April 1st…35 days away! We need your help raising $50,000 ASAP!
So Far: Earlier this week, Truro Conservation Trust pledged to hold the title to the land and building once we raise the funds — for a listing price the owners have stated may exceed 1.5 million dollars. The Truro Conservation Trust will lease the building, long-term, to the parish, who will be responsible for all utilities, maintenance, and insurance. Miraculously, an anonymous individual has already donated $500,000 toward the 1.5M goal! This donor has also offered another 500K in matching funds for all donations we raise. All donations will be doubled! So please give generously, spread the word, and share this GoFundMe campaign on all social media platforms. It truly takes a village to preserve such a vital piece of the community. We thank you so much for your donations and your help spreading the word, and please keep praying for miracles. We cannot get there without your help. Thank you!
History and Testimonials:
Over the past six years, Pastor David G. Brown and his choir-leading wife, Carlene, have inspired a mostly Jamaican congregation to grow from five members to fifty-plus. Fifty to a hundred parishioners in the Chapel attend weekly services, concerts, and other events. The members of this parish represent an essential part of the Outer Cape workforce. Pastor Brown himself works for four different companies. We have a fabulous opportunity to step up for a community that has been supporting Cape Cod businesses since Jamaican H2B visas were initiated to enrich our workforce over thirty years ago.
— A parishioner has inspired us with these words: “God doesn’t start anything he can’t finish!”
— One neighbor who has been a full-time resident for decades writes: “It is my firm belief that a community does not survive without diversity…This congregation is a loving and productive group of people who deserve a home among us. We as a household are happy to give $1000 to this cause.”
—A Provincetown community member says: “It is my understanding that if we intend to make reparations to restore the equilibrium of justice and privilege, this would be a fabulous step in the right direction — to support a community of color that relies on this beautiful and historic chapel.”
—An interfaith clergy member offered: “My dream is that it could remain a chapel, and my other dream is that Pastor Brown could securely call it home for the foreseeable future.”
