Poodle’s Surgery Fees
Donation protected
On December 26th, 2024, at approximately 6:20 pm, my dog Poodle and my 71-year-old father-in-law were attacked by a larger leashed dog. Poodle was bitten pretty badly in his abdomen/genital area and was bleeding badly. My father-in-law was also bitten badly and had to be rushed to the ER.
I caught a glimpse of the owner of the attacking dog as I ran up the block when my mother-in-law had me run out. But because Poodle was bleeding so much, I was put in an Uber by some kind neighbors who witnessed the attack to immediately go to a local pet urgent care to assess his very serious injuries. The owner of the dog who attacked just walked away from the scene, literally leaving my dog, who HIS dog bit, for dead.
At the urgent care, the doctor did X-rays and determined that Poodle suffered two puncture wounds; one in his abdominal cavity, which caused a bowel herniation (where basically his intestines were coming out of his abdomen via the puncture wound), and the other punctured a blood vessel in his back leg.
I was advised by the doctor at urgent care that Poodle needs to have a major abdominal exploratory surgery within 24-48 hours at max or else Poodle would not have made it.
Being that the owner of the attacking dog fled the scene, me and my family are left with the growing financial expenses associated with Poodle’s procedures as he may need multiple surgeries depending on how he recovers over the next several days.
