Help Poppet get some treatment for his leg…

Sadly Poppet hasn’t had the outcome we’d been hoping for. He passed away this morning - the risks seemed worth it a week ago but now it’s happened it’s such a shame & im struggling to justify putting Poppet through so much. unfortunately with birds they don’t like showing weakness / illness & will try & hide it - Poppet must have been very good at it. He passed away peacefully 27/01

Hi, I’m Robert & I’m hoping that some non pigeon discriminating people will help financially support Poppet through some veterinary care.
Although not totally sure he is a boy as it’s difficult to tell until they mature Poppet seems more like a male than a female. He is a brilliant wee guy bright, inquisitive & independent but he was born with a bit of a problem with his right leg which affects every aspect of his life.
Funds raised will go towards the costs of preparing for & completing the necessary operation to attempt to better realign his leg which would ease the strain on his good leg & help him live a more comfortable, normal pet pigeon life. Anything over that amount will go towards ongoing care & building / maintenance of suitable accommodation.
I rescued Poppets dad, Pidgy Widgy, & a sibling after a ‘pest’ controller destroyed their nest & left them out for gulls to eat - they were both less than 5 days old. Only one survived & I hand reared him & he was soon joined by another rescue & a gifted fancy pigeon.
There is a flock now & Poppet socialises everyday with the others, it’d be fantastic to see him be able to fly around with the rest, he does try but gaining altitude seems to be very difficult with that leg in the way.
Poppet & the others that are to tame will be pets & not released but their outside aviary with large flight is under construction & once his operation & aftercare is complete I’ll happily let him rewild a bit with his family. There will be plenty to keep them engaged & entertained including regular visits from Royston & Majorie ( the free roaming peafowl ) as well as pheasants, jays, red squirrels, badgers & possibly the odd sheep which sneak into the garden for wild bird seed & sweetcorn.
Poppet will receive the treatment he needs regardless of this fundraiser but if this fundraiser is successful it will allow the treatment to be undertaken far sooner than I could otherwise raise the funds. I work full-time, there is only the one income covering myself & the animals & the expected costs of the initial anaesthetic & X-rays is £150, then once all the tiny pins etc are ordered & available the operation is expected to be £500 but things could change so I’ll post updates & will be keeping my fingers crossed for Poppet.
Poppet seemed pretty excited by the journey to the vets in Falkirk yesterday, he is having an overnight stay & x-rays & assessment today ( 25/01 ). He’s had an eventful week so far with 2.5 days storm power outage & I'm sure he’ll enjoy the journey home this afternoon. Hope is that the info from today will allow Richard, the vet, to plan for Poppets big op - we may also get a better idea of what the outcome could be. Finger, toes & eyes crossed everyone!
Wee Poppet got on ok today with just a small issue due to anaesthetic - I’ll be travelling down to pick him up this afternoon. I’m very relieved & will be happy have him back at home.
Poppet got home safely yesterday ( 25/01 ) with his night away costing £198.75. His mum was very pleased to see him so hoping to hear from vet with treatment options soon.
