My sweet sister Danielle's son Porter, a few weeks shy of his 4th birthday, was diagnosed with Leukemia (B-Cell ALL). Life throws us all curveballs, but the last 2 years have been especially difficult for Danielle and her family. A single mother of 2, she is the sole provider for her children.
While we are still trying to understand what this new diagnosis will mean for Porter and our family as a whole, it will most certainly mean that Danielle will not be able to work for (at a minimum) the next year, as Porter will be undergoing intensive chemotherapy treatments for the next year and beyond.
The Dr's notified us today that Porter will need to be near the Children's Hospital in Phoenix for the next 30 days as he undergoes his first phase of chemotherapy, as any time he spikes a fever, etc. he will need to go to the ER to have additional tests run to make sure he is safe. Ronald McDonald houses are all closed due to COVID-19, and we will need to find temporary housing for Danielle and Porter for at least the next 30 days in the Phoenix area.
We are asking for donations to help support Danielle and her boys as they navigate the long road ahead so that the only thing she has to worry about is keeping her son healthy, safe and comfortable during this most difficult season.
Understandably, 2020 has been a rough year for many. You may not be in a position to donate monetarily to Danielle at this time and that is okay. If you could keep her and Porter in your thoughts and prayers, that too would be appreciated. It takes a village and at times like these we all need each other more than ever!
Thank you for reading, and donating any amount that you can.
