Porter's Harris: Cancer, Tongue Graf, Surgeries

My name is Nancy Saunders In order to assist Porter Harris' Cancer situation, I am raising funds to help Porter with all his hospital bills. Financially struggling, his family is spent. He can no longer work, let alone speak or eat as well. Porter is 112 pounds which is 23 pounds lighter and counting. My goal is to assist his family and better help their situation and ongoing care. Rob Harris and Laura Gleason grew up in Soda Springs and have been a big part of our family. If you know them they are the worst at reaching out! They do not like to ask for help. Now they need our help. Anything helps! Thank you.

They initially took him in with a sore spot on his tongue in 2018. This was dismissed and then gradually got worse. His initial surgery & Cancer diagnosis was March of 2022, last spring, his 2nd surgery was May 2022.

Rob said, "He has slowly lost the ability to swallow again from this last round of chemo, so eats currently by a tube directly into his stomach. We are hoping the swallowing comes back with physical therapy after treatment. His speech had also been affected from the two surgeries on his tongue. Chemo made him very sick with vomiting & being bed-ridden. Starting treatment he weighed 135. Now he weighs 112. He won't be able to swim until he gets his feed tube out....hopefully someday soon. My favorite characteristics are: his calm nature, witty sense of humor, his smile, his laughter, his dance moves & his ability to watch, analyze & give me insight or advice on whatever life endeavor is currently unfolding. He is an amazing young man & has always respected his parents. He is one of my greatest blessings & exemplifies the concept of 'joy in our posterity' to his family. Amazing kid, & the toughest man I know."
