Portsmouth Marathon in memory of Liam O'Connor
On the 10th June of 2023 our close friend Liam O'Connor tragically lost his life in a traffic accident, whilst he was out with friends celebrating the end of his second year exams at Newcastle University.
We are truly blessed to have known Liam and to have had some wonderful memories with him.
Everybody knew Liam as such a kind soul and a special person to have in their lives. His dry sense of humour and his natural ability to take life as it came brought a warm presence to all those around him.
Liam also loved his Rugby and played for the University Law team and although he had a broken arm for a long time, he never stopped going to the games and doing what he loved most.
We spent our first year together in student accommodation and despite the basic living conditions, we would spend most nights playing golden oldies and playing Fifa whilst laughing at Liam for drinking his diabolical choice of beverages. Liam especially loved Sam Cooke and his drink of choice was unfortunately Frosty Jacks.
We cannot change the tragic events that occurred on that night, but we do have an opportunity to make a positive difference for Liam and honour the great friend, brother and son that he was.
As a result we have decided to Run the Portsmouth Marathon on the 17th December 2023 in memory of Liam and in contribution to 'Brake', which is a national road safety charity dedicated to preventing road death and injury and supporting those bereaved or injured in road crashes.
We are very proud to be honouring our mate Liam and any donations are greatly appreciated if you are in a position to do so.
