#pose4pride
A public art exhibit that shines a light on local LGBTQ+ People for Pride Month ( June )
"There will not be a magic day when we wake up and it's now okay to express ourselves publicly. We make that day by doing things publicly until it’s simply the way things are.” -TAMMY BALDWIN // FIRST OPENLY GAY U.S. SENATOR
The Franklin County Coalition for Progress (FCCP), a 501 c 3 non profit, is partnering with local artist and photographer, Phillip Michael Whitley , to shine a light on local LGBTQ+ people during Pride Month (June), with an exhibit that will be on display in various businesses in downtown Chambersburg.
The funds raised will cover the cost of 30 canvasses each 16" x 20" and an opening reception which will be held on Saturday, June 1st at The Garage Studios . Any funds raised exceeding the goal will be donated to the 2nd Annual Pride Franklin County .
The portraits will also be hosted on Mr. Whitley's Facebook page.
The images will be posted throughout the month of June and will include an inspirational quote, chosen by each participant, next to their respective portrait. After the exhibit closes, each participant will receive their portrait as a gift and memento for their participation.
#pose4pride Challenge
Throughout the month of June, allies, families and members of the LGBTQ+ community will be encouraged to post a photo and brief description of why, or who inspires them to #pose4pride. Pride Franklin County will be picking photos and stories from the # and giving away prizes to their favorites.
