Positive Vector: Marathon for Mental Health
Donation protected
On Saturday, December 17th, 2022, a group of runners will set out from Mondovi, WI following a route of mixed-use trails & rural roadways, finishing at 322 Water St. in Eau Claire, WI. Last year, our three runners and their supporters raised $3,383 for NAMI-CV, helping the organization to hire its first staff member! This year, we seek to attract more runners and make an even larger financial impact on this fledgling organization.
Positive Vector is a marathon for mental health. Created by a group of friends in memory of Corey James Hilber. We grew to know Corey during his time at UWEC where he studied Mathematics. Sadly, he struggled silently with mental illness and took his life on December 15, 2012. He was a goofy man who liked to turn things on their head. It's with this legacy in mind that our run will commence rain, sleet, or shine. The name, Positive Vector, is a nod to Corey’s enthusiasm for all things Math. A vector is a combination of magnitude and direction. Our goal is to empower those doing great work in mental health, while providing an optimistic (positive) direction for our community.
SUPPORT: Running / Volunteering / Donating
There are three ways that you can support Positive Vector - Marathon for Mental Health.
YOU CAN RUN!
Last year we had three runners, and this year we expect a bunch more. Join the full marathon starting in Mondovi at 10am (arrive at 9am), or the half marathon starting in Rock Falls at 12pm (arrive at 11am). Runners are asked to make a $50+ donation on this page, and then register on this page.
YOU CAN VOLUNTEER!
Our runners could use your support. Help get folks registered, hand out water, be a course bike marshal, point them in the right direction along the route, etc… If you’d like to volunteer, please register on this page.
YOU CAN DONATE!
This is after all, a fundraiser. Donate as you can, and help share the link to spread the word. Everyone involved is volunteering their time, so we can raise as much funds as possible for NAMI Chippewa Valley.
NAMI Chippewa Valley
For more than 11 years, National Alliance on Mental Illness Chippewa Valley has devoted its energy to passionately educating, supporting and advocating for the families and individuals living with a mental illness in the Chippewa Valley. Each year 1 in 4 adults and 1 in 10 children will be diagnosed with a mental health disorder. NAMI Chippewa Valley's mission is to provide education, support and advocacy to individuals living with a mental illness and their families.
NAMI Chippewa Valley is always looking for support to further their mission to provide education, support and advocacy for individuals living with a mental illness and their families. Current funding is being used to maintain an office space at Banbury Place, provide training, curriculum materials and supplies for their current family programs, and to employ an Executive Director to facilitate programs, activities and fundraising. They also support the Eau Claire Police Department's CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) Program for their officers and surrounding departments. Future goals are to expand programming to include Peer Support Groups, Peer-to-Peer classes and youth outreach.
