The Story Of Missy
Howling wind, driving rain, a lamb is born, a mother is lost.
A lamb in need is discovered, a new mother is found.
A lamb joins a diverse family, gains a name, becomes loved and cherished.
A lamb lives in a house, goes to work, bounces on a bed.
A lamb spies a future home with room to thrive, a sanctuary is purchased.
A lamb missed a drink of birth mother’s milk, a lamb begins to fall ill.
A lamb battles, a family battles, a lamb leaves an earthly body…….
…….. A spirit remains.
Missy, an orphaned Shropshire lamb, was the catalyst and founding member of Possum Valley Animal Sanctuary. In her short time on this earth she made an eternal impression, forever changing the lives of not only the humans she chose to adopt as parents but of their family, friends, supporters and the multitude of animals who have and will be touched by her legacy.

Long time native animal carers, Mark and Chris found thier lives forever transformed by Missy. Now, with a mixture of over 70 native and 'farm' animals already in care, they are joined by a group of people with a shared vision in order to advance these efforts.
It is our aim, through the formation of a not for profit charity, incorporated association, to prevent or relieve the suffering of animals by:
(a) Providing a rescue and rehabilitation service for orphaned or injured native, domestic and ‘farm’ animals;
(b) Operating a sanctuary where injured or orphaned native wildlife, incapable of returning to ‘the wild’ and farm animals who are neglected or would otherwise be destined for human consumption can spend the rest of their natural lives, without fear of unnecessary euthanasia, predation, human consumption or exploitation;
(c) Providing and/or facilitating foster care for domestic and ‘farm’ animals and finding ‘forever’ homes for animals in temporary care, so that they can live the rest of their lives as part of a family, without fear of unnecessary euthanasia, predation, human consumption or exploitation; and
(d) Educating the public about the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect for their needs and promoting lifestyle and dietary choices so as to reduce the suffering and exploitation of animals, regardless of species.

Whilst Missy did not get an opportunity to “live” at the property that was bought for her. A little of her spirit lives on in each and every animal she guides into the care of Possum Valley Animal Sanctuary.
“No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away...”
