Colorectal/Bone Cancer Battle Fund

“Sooooo.....CANCER is for someone else right? I mean it happens all the time. Family. Neighbors. Dearest friends. We all have a story or two, but you never think it will be you. Or not really.”
And so begins the journey for Rick Post and his wife Stephanie, our friend, colleague, mentor, sorority sister and their two teenage children. Issues during the summer lead to Rick having a colonoscopy on October 13th, followed shortly thereafter by a stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis.
“Can’t is not in the Post vocabulary” is the quote on the whiteboard in Stephanie’s office. She immediately took charge of leading this fight. Within weeks, Rick was at Mayo, getting his condition assessed and treatment outlined. But…being the overachiever that he is, a secondary, unrelated cancer was discovered. A chondrosarcoma on his sternum - bone cancer. It does not respond to chemo or radiation and must be removed by a thoracic surgeon.
Fast forward 6 months. Countless trips to Mayo for chemo. Nearly 6 weeks of painful radiation. This culminated with Surgery Number 1 on April 21st for the colorectal cancer. In the scheme of things described here, surgery was a success and prognosis is excellent. More trips to Mayo for follow up, more chemo and Surgery Number 2 for the bone cancer later this summer.
What can we do to support this amazing and strong family? They have so many friends and colleagues near and far; that is why we have decided to set up this Go Fund Me Page for the Post Family. At the end of this journey is a stack of medical bills and there continue to be trips to Mayo that require gas and hotels. While Stephanie continues to lead the charge and Rick heals in anticipation of the second surgery, please show your love and support by contributing!
