Pottstown CARES Giving Thanks and Lending a Hand
Tax deductible
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful and generous. This could mean anything from spending time with family to volunteering for charity to letting another relative eat the last drumstick. Sadly, this year changed our plans for the holiday, but it also made us realize what we are privileged to have. While giving thanks at the dinner table is one way to be grateful, you can still make an effort to lend a hand to those less fortunate.
During normal years, the student leaders of Pottstown C.A.R.E.S organize an event to benefit the homeless community in Pottstown. In the time of Covid-19, many homeless shelters have closed and have needed to pivot to a new way of helping people without homes find shelter from the cold. The homeless shelter we have worked closely with is operated by Ministries at Main St. and for the 2020-2021 season, it is estimated that housing one person per week will cost approximately $500.
Pottstown CARES has a mission to promote our core values of Community, Awareness, Responsibility, Empowerment, and Sustainability. Nothing reflects our values better than giving to those less fortunate and no time is better than this Thanksgiving. We are asking that you consider the less fortunate members of our Pottstown Community by donating $5 (or more) and adding a message of what you are grateful and thankful for this year.
Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you in advance for participating in Pottstown CARES by helping the homeless in our community!
