HARFORD MANOR IS A COMPLEX NEED SCHOOL IN NORWICH AND ARE RAISING MONEY FOR NEW SPECIALIST PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT WHICH IS DEPSERATELY NEEDED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR CHILDREN .
This year Harford Manor is 50 years old - Harford Manor was opened on 17th Febuary 1972, and was one of the first Complex Need schools in the country.

Take a look at our video which shows our amazing school. We think our school is pretty awesome.........hope you do too!
As you can see from watching our video, we have a dedicated staff team who tirelessly focus on meeting the individual and varying needs of the 99 pupils who attend, enabling them to develop their communication, problem solving, independence and self-regulation skills – all which helps them better prepare them for life outside of and after school.
Harford Manor is an engaging school, motivating and meaningful but a place where pupils can succeed and feel valued. The school is proud of each and every one of their students and the progress they make. It is an inspiring and uplifting place to be.
Friends of Harford Manor is the school’s associated charity, and we raise money for special projects such as a minibus, a purpose-built sensory room and refurbishing the soft play area. In recent times it has become far trickier to fundraise due to COVID as it has for many charities. We have more children and less money to spend on them!
What do we need and how are we going to fundraise?
The ‘Friends’ new ambitious but much needed fundraiser is ’Project Playground’. We desperately need to refurbish the very dated and creaky outdoor play equipment. We have been quoted £100,000 which is an overwhelming amount and totally beyond the reach of the school budget. Much of the equipment is specialist due to the children’s varying and complex needs and therefore more expensive.
So in honour of our 50th birthday and to raise some funds, the children will be doing some sponsored events!
RAINBOW CLASS - 50 jumps on the trampoline
YELLOW CLASS - 50 laps around the pool
BLUE CLASS - 50 Laps around the track
WHITE CLASS - 50 laps around the track either running or cycling
GREEN CLASS - Baking 50 Cupcakes
RED CLASS - 50 Laps around the playground
ORANGE CLASS - 50 Laps around the track - backwards!!
PURPLE CLASS - 50 Minutes of dancing
LODGE - 50 throws and catchs of a ball to each other
FE - Finding 50 members of staff photo's hiding around the school
We would love it if you could give what you can!

Why is this playground so important to our children?
Our children don’t just play for fun; they play to learn - not just in their Early Years but throughout their time with us. Research shows that playing outside develops core cognitive, social and creative skills. These skills don't often come naturally to our children so teaching them through play is essential. The benefits of outdoor play for our kids are endless.
This playground will give the children years of opportunities to learn how to socially interact with adults and peers, to explore, to have freedom, and above all else to have fun. We want our new playground to be fun but also a learning opportunity whereby exploration, imagination, fun, excitement and laughter are at the centre.
A playground allows our children to try new things, feel fear, get a bruise or scrape, and prepare for taking risks, while being supervised by trained staff who understand their needs and can support them to be successful so their self-esteem grows and grows.......
So it’s not ‘just’ a playground, for the children at Harford Manor, for them it means the world.
