Power Assist Wheels for Finlay

Hi my name is Finlay,
I am challenged by cerebral palsy which impacts me everyday;  from birth and for the rest of my life. At the age of 10, with support from my neurologist, I made the decision that multiple, long, painful and complex surgeries, which MIGHT give me the opportunity to walk, was not the route I wanted to take.  I have accepted life in a wheelchair, although this is a challenge that I sometimes really struggle to cope with. Every aspect of my life and choices I make are affected by my mobility issues; school, college, clubs, venues, community, social life...

I am now 18 years old and after 2 years of college I am entering the world of employment. I have researched ways that can not only help my quality of life, mental physical and emotional health but also my employability. I really want a job.

I have created this gofundme to help raise funds to buy Power Assist Wheels for my self propelling wheelchair. 

The Twion power assist wheels give me extra 40% power with every push I give. This will help by preventing me from over straining, stop the pain in my neck, shoulders and back as well as the exhaustion from even some of the shortest distances. These wheels are light, compact and discreet and fix to my current wheelchair. They use an app which connects via Bluetooth to my phone so I can also monitor my exercise; distance, speed, altitude and calories. 

Currently hills, slopes and uneven ground,  make being independent almost impossible and I require help to push and keep me safe. So I avoid going out most of the time which makes me depressed. The power assist wheels will increase my independence out and about in the community. I will also be able to go further, quicker and access more employment opportunities. 

I have saved £500 myself and I am asking for help with the remainder. They are on the market for  £4500 but the amazing team at Exeter Disability Centre have kindly reduced the price to £3500 for me. I also need to raise a bit for insurance, servicing and repairs.
