Power Packs for Frontline Workers

Last year my best friend Marisa graduated as a Radiologic Technologist. Approaching the completion of the first year in her career Covid-19 took her and her coworkers by storm as it did the rest of the nation and the world. Here in Acadiana of South Louisiana we thrive on community support and staying strong through adverse times. #LafayetteStrong
During a conversation between her and I she mentioned in passing the difficulties presenting themselves to her and her coworkers. A Rad tech takes on various roles all centered around diagnostic imaging and treatments which aids in the care-taking of Covid-19 patients. Working amid a growing pandemic frontline workers become the true heroes.
Throughout checking in on my friend and seeing the toll on it took her and her crew, I wanted to give them something that would let them know their efforts are recognized, appreciated, and above all seen.
I went to Costco and it dawned one me that they work long shifts which leads to fatigue. Immediately I began to look for anything that was healthy and energy giving but also a grab and go type snack. In the process I ended up making around 50-60 snack packs to deliver to her department. I posted a video about this to encourage others locally to give and support anyone around them as they could. This led to donations and people reaching out to join in the support of Frontliners! We have so lovingly come to call these snack packs, “POWER PACKS!” From April to July we are now close to having made and handed out 1,000 POWER PACKS!
Someone gave me the idea to start a GOFUNDME to continue this endeavor. Alongside this I launched by business which will be a nonprofit in the future. Hidden Heart, LLC now houses POWER PACKS and other outreaches to come. For Covid-19 specifically I would like to continue to hand these PACKS to frontline works in my community!
EACH POWER PACKS COMES WITH:
A drink
A protein bar
A beef Jerky or trailmix
A sweet snack
& bag of chips or cheeze its. (I also change them for specific places with allergies and such)
A local Raising Canes has donated free Lemonade cards so along with a thank you each Frontline workers receives one those as well!
All donations and funds will got towards buying supplies for these packs which includes: Ziplock bags, gatorades, protein bars, trailmixes, beef jerkies, inserts, delivery bags and any other cost along the way!
I will continue these packs as long as I can through Covid-19 and would like to do these at any time a disaster hits our area. These are just a small thank you in the midst of all that is happening!
