"Power To The People" (working title)

Greetings- My name is Jibril Haynes. I’m an award-winning filmmaker who has spent my life making passionate independent films with a purpose. My life changed dramatically when my college roommate from 32 years ago, talent manager Courtney Benson, reached out to me to write and direct this film. Courtney is a very successful talent manager in the entertainment business, however, I remembered even in college, he constantly spoke about making this film and telling the story. This has been a passion project of his for many years. So it’s safe to say I was very honored when he reached out to me to write and direct this film.

This is indeed a passion project with historical perspectives that align with present-day issues.

To keep the integrity, we are making this film independent and separate from the Hollywood machine.

We are planning a 10-day shoot in June 2023. The funds we raise will be used directly for the production crew. Paying the Director of Photography, Sound Recorder, Set Designer, Wardrobe, Props, and finally our Cast.

My family's connection to the Black Panther Party invites a personal connection that I cannot and would never run from. In fact, I use my connections to the cause to achieve authenticity; and simply it drives me forward. I am a finisher and this film is at the very top of my to-do list. Donations will assist in paying the hard-working cast that has (in many instances) taken a pay cut to make this film happen with our team.

Our team shot the concept teaser you see above in 2.5 days. Our focus was to capture the life and times in a few short minutes. With many almost deals on the table, we decided that we cannot wait any longer to tell our stories. We realized that we needed help from our community to bring this home.
