Andy Menkes Annual Memorial Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Mike Gross. I am one of the adaptive physical education teachers at P721K, a public school for students with special needs in Brooklyn. For many years I was fortunate enough to work with a truly great man, Andy Menkes. Andy was one of our dear colleagues that was one of those rare individuals everyone else should strive to be. Andy would help anyone, anytime, anywhere...even if he didn't know you. If you needed help, all you had to do was ask, and he would be there. Unfortunately, Andy left us way too soon, but we can keep his name alive in the way we treat others. We are collecting donations in Andy's name and the funds will be used in a variety of ways:

1) The first $200 will go towards The Andy Menkes Award. This award($100 per recipient) goes to two

deserving graduates at P721K that exemplify the traits that Andy possessed. Such as being kind to

others, willing to sacrifice their time and effort, and always is helpful to both peers and staff alike.

2) The next $800 will supply team t-shirts and awards for our students who participate in the Divine Capers

Jr. Memorial 3 v 3 school basketball tournament which takes place every Spring. This tournament is a

school favorite that so many students look forward to.

3) Any additional donations will be donated to supply medals for our students in our school for our annual Special Olympics in

Andy's name; a charity near and dear to Andy's heart. also money will help purchase a new gaming table to replace an old one for our recreation and game unit that we have every February.

Please help us in keeping Andy's name alive through this award and through these activities that would make him smile.
