PPE Gowns for GPs
Donation protected
GPs in the inner-west and east of Sydney don’t have enough PPE gowns. These gowns cover a doctor’s clothes when they’re treating patients with COVID19.
Retrospec’d has a warehouse full of fabric, a factory’s worth of workers needing an income, and a garment production company.
Sydney’s swing dancers can’t dance at the moment, but they have serious organising skills.
We’re a group of capable people with a mission. And that mission is to get those gowns made, and onto doctors.
And now we need to pay for it all. That’s where you come in.
What can you do?
Your money will pay for the materials, and pay wages for professionals who are out of work. All you have to do is drop some cash into this fund. Then we’ll get gowns made and sent off to the doctors who need them.
Who are we?
Inner-west GP Linda Mann reached out to the sisters Rebecca and Sarah Kummerfeld. They reached out to their swing dancing friends Sharon Hanley , Sam Carroll and Trish Falzon. Sharon just happened to run Retrospec’d, a local clothing manufacturer and store. Trish is a professional patternmaker. Sam is an experienced copy writer and organiser. Within 24 hours there was a plan. Together with Kathryn Bennett, a volunteer with the local Viral Kindness groups, the team has reached out to local GPs and have a growing list of practices that need gowns.
What are the expenses?
Each gown costs about $50 in materials and labour. This labour includes cutting and sewing the fabric, but also managing the workers, designing and producing the patterns, and coordinating the project. We need about *** REVISED GOAL, we are now working to make 80 gowns*** (40) of these gowns to outfit the surgeries in our network. To begin we are looking to support the following practices:
- Your Doctors (Ashfield, Leichhardt and Summer Hill)
- GP East Medical Practice
- Coogee Medical Centre
What’s the goal?
1. Get General Practitioners the gowns they need to stay safe while treating COVID19 patients.
2. Give local workers much-needed paid work.
3. Limit the spread of COVID19 and flatten the curve.
