PPROM Support
Donation protected
October 27th, 2021 was a terrifying night. My water broke at 19 weeks pregnant and I was diagnosed with PPROM (Preterm Premature Rupture Of Membranes). We are devastated that our very healthy pregnancy all of the sudden took this major turn. Surprisingly, babies can carry nearly to full term with this condition though it is highly dangerous for both baby and birther with a high chance of preterm delivery. I must stay on bedrest for the remainder of this pregnancy and likely will be placed in hospital care for several months.
We are at risk for having a micro premie/premie and the baby may have long lasting health issues from this. Unfortunately, infant loss is also a possibility we have to keep in mind. This pregnancy also puts my health in danger.
We are being faced with some of the biggest challenges we have ever faced and we are asking for your help paying for our bills when I have to stay full time in hospital care.
You never think this could happen to you until it does.
Estimated breakdown of cost:
$15,000 ($3,000 a month for 5 months) will pay our regular living bills.
$2,000 ($400-$800)a month for groceries. It ranges because we don’t yet know if I will have to eat food provided by the hospital or if Alex can bring meals in to me. Either way, meals and groceries will be expensive
$4,000-(midwife & doula services)We are desperately hoping to pay the midwife & doula we originally hired for a home delivery. Since I have to be at the hospital, we can still hire our midwife to deliver if we stay in Bend. Since I had to stop babysitting/making money on the side, we are not sure of the practicality of being able to afford such service. However, my midwife & doula have been a constant source of medical and emotional support during this emergency (more so than many of the other doctors we’ve seen).
The majority of expenses will come once we receive our hospital bills as well as any unexpected expenses.
We are in a very fortunate position where we can child care for Hazel can be covered while I’m in the hospital and Alex works.
