My name is Renee Camel and my brother is Ken Camel. He lives up in Hellroaring, outside of Polson, MT. He has put down his roots in this wonderful mountain community for the past 23 years. You may know him, he was the boxing coach at the Montana Co-Op, Mission Valley Warriors Boxing. MOA basketball referee for 23 years throughout the valley, 3-on-3 court referee during the summer months, a local artist, and an inductee of the Ronan Sports Hall of Fame.
Unfortunately, on Wednesday, October 25th, his home caught fire due to his woodstove. He got out just in time but due to the wooden structure and being an older home, it didn’t take long to cause major damage. The damage opened up the living room, attic, and roof to the outside elements. The Red Cross paid for three days in a hotel. His insurance does not cover anything for temporary housing. He has lived in his home for 23 years. He is currently staying at the local motel because his house is unlivable, plus the fire marshal told him that he cannot stay there.
He is asking for your support with any monetary contribution that you are willing to spare during this time of his displacement. It has been four weeks since the fire and he is still looking at 2-3 weeks longer to get anything from his home insurance. It will be in the middle of winter and we are not sure if he will be able to find an affordable contractor to take the job on to repair his home. Plus, I am not certain that his coverage will be enough to repair his home in the end.
The money will be used for temporary living, food, and gas.
