Dear Pink Families and Friends,
As most of you may know, our music teacher, Ms. Marisa Bannworth (formerly Wester) experienced the tragic loss of her son Zachery Wester on Oct. 3rd at the age of 20. Zachery had an unidentified neurodegenerative disease that he battled throughout his life.
All of our children have attended class with Ms. Bannworth, so we thought that as a Pink family, we could show our support for her during this trying time.
While FISD does offer a “family leave”, Ms. Bannworth has been unable to take advantage of this option due to exceeding her allotted days with pay while caring for Zachery in his final days. She has expressed the stress of having to return to school just two days after Zachery’s funeral, but due to financial reasons, she had to.
This is where we as a family can show our support to a teacher that has spent countless hours sharing her passion for music with our children.
This GoFundMe page has been set up in Ms. Bannworth’s name in an effort to raise funds that would allow her to take additional time off for healing.
The goal of $5,000 would allow her to take several weeks off. While the hope is to reach this goal and allow her the opportunity to take advantage of this time off, we ask that you give with a heart of understanding that the monies may be used at her discretion where it will help her most.
Please also note that this is not a Pink or PTA sponsored effort. We are reaching out to Pink families personally and would ask that you would forward to any others that would want to help.
There is no set amount being asked for and you can give anonymously. No list of donators will be given to Ms. Bannworth, so she will not feel obligated to respond somehow.
We are also asking parents to please not share this effort with your children at this time. While giving to others is a great characteristic to teach our kiddos, having them possibly approach Ms. Bannworth with the news and amounts their families have given would create a very awkward situation for her. She has not been made aware of this effort as we didn’t want her feel uncomfortable in any way.
Once the goal is reached, or we see a slowing in donations, we will discretely meet with her and present her with the monies.
