Please help support the Smith Family

As many of you know, Shane Smith suffered from a Hemorrhagic Stroke on Monday, March 23rd while at work in North Hollywood. His coworkers noticed his jumbled speech and his odd behavior. They talked Shane into letting them take him to the emergency room. Shane was admitted to the ICU where he stayed for 6 days in order to manage his blood pressure and control the bleeding. His brain bleed occurred on the left side of the brain and Shane has what is called Anomic Aphasia. Basically, he is having a hard time remembering the names of people, places, objects, etc. Shane can remember simple things like his birthday one moment, but not the next. Luckily the doctors feel his memory will come back with the help of therapy, but it will take time. Luckily the physical side effects are minimal and the Physical Therapist feels that he will be back to 100% physically in a few weeks or months.

Shane has worked for Moorfield Construction for almost 9 years as a Superintendent. Due to the physical requirements needed for his job as well as his current mental state, Shane will be on disability for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, Shane’s company does not offer short or long-term disability, so the only source of income for Shane will be State Disability.

The support from family and friends has already been incredible and The Smith family is blessed to be surrounded by so much love. Many continue to ask Jennifer how they can continue to help. Due to Shane being out of work during his recovery, I have put together a GoFundMe to help the Smith family cover their monthly bills. This will help the whole family focus on Shane’s recovery without Jennifer having to worry about their finances.

Shane has a positive attitude and is ready to fight this battle head-on! What lies in front of him and the family is very stressful, so as their friends, we would like to take whatever stress we can off of their plate. Household bills, physical therapy, and constant trips to the doctor will all add up. Our goal is to relieve any stress that will occur financially, so Shane and his family can solely focus on healing and recovery.

We all know how much Shane, Jen, and the kids are loved by so many which is why I created this page to show our continued support. As a community, friends, and family, I ask that you please help them in any way you can. If you are unable to donate financially please say a prayer for the family.

Thank you so much for your support!
