In Memory of Prabin Lama - Hiking for Healthcare
Donation protected
In April 2023, my beloved husband, best friend and soul mate passed away after losing his battle with cancer at the age of 31. A beautiful and caring soul, he always spoke of how fortunate he was to be able to access health care and treatment through our health insurance, as this is something that is rarely affordable in his home country of Nepal. Always grateful for the care that he received from day one of his diagnosis, he believed that he would never have been given a chance to be cured had he not had access to the amazing care he experienced.
In memory of Prabin, I shall be raising money to fund medical equipment in his village of Tawal, Dhading, Nepal by hiking two 6000m mountains; Island Peak and Lobuche Peak over a one month period in April 2024. I will also be visiting Everest Base Camp where we did our first hike together. He loved his home and spoke many times of his happiness and love for his village, culture and community. Having a basic right to access medical care without worrying about money is essential for any human being, and the earlier cancer can be detected the more of a fighting chance someone is given to survive.
Money raised will go to Tawal Swasthya Bindu (Tawal Medical Centre) and help towards providing essential equipment such as oxygen tanks, lab machines and an x-ray machine, and give a community access to treatment that can help a loved one.
