Practical love & support for the Grijalva Family

In proper Miguel form, he faced some of life's most challenging moments with incredible fortitude while somehow holding onto his wicked sense of humor. Very suddenly, he went from fighting cancer which seemed to have been beaten back, to a prognosis of rapidly spreading end-stage cancer throughout his body with no further effective treatment options. The decline was shockingly fast! No matter how hard we grasped for more moments, that we hadn't the time to do all that was needed, that we weren't able to be with all our loved ones, regardless, the time slipped through our fingers. On Tuesday evening, November 1st, Miguel shocked us all by taking his last breath on a toast in his honor, surrounded by many of those he loved. Even in the unexpected and untimely, the grief and the ache, the ending was profoundly peaceful and honoring. Miguel stayed true to that spirit of fortitude to the last moments, showing his strength of spirit, pride in his family, and extraordinary personality. His presence, personality, cooking skills and love for family and friends were larger than life. There are no words for the magnitude of the Miguel-sized void, and the ache is more profound than can be described. Taking the lead from Miguel, we are trying to face it with fortitude. It is staggering how fast this went, truly mind-boggling, which is why it is even more crucial we support the family while they try to reconcile to life without Miguel.
