Prairie Spirit Alpacas Barn
Donation protected
Hello everyone, thank you so much for stopping in here. My name is Jennie and this fundraiser is for my friend, Carmen. Carmen is an alpaca farmer who is a one woman show. On the night of October 12th, 2023 her barn caught fire and was burned to the ground. She lost her whole load of fresh hay, her entire barn and all of its contents, eight alpacas, her chickens, and her faithful and loyal gaurdian dog, Sophie. Carmen is absolutely devastated at the loss of her dear dog who spent her whole life living with and looking after the alpacas and died in the barn with them. There is a picture above of Sophie at work. Also inside the barn was all of the alpaca fleeces that she uses to turn into all of the products that she sells, essentially her livelihood. On top of that several of the alpacas are burned and need extra care at this time. She has close to 200 alpacas that need shelter before winter which is fast approaching. Yesterday when I went to help there wasn't even a bucket to feed the animals with. She needs everything that a barn would usually contain to help look after her animals! We were looking in the house for sweaters and jackets to put on the babies and injured animals to keep them warm since there is currently no shelter.
Carmen's farm, Prairie Spirit Alpacas, is a special place. All of her animals are cared for in the kindest way. She is a no kill farm. The animals live out all their days with her in Millarville.
Carmen would never ask for help herself but she has just found out that insurance will only be covering a portion of the losses. Thank you so much for anything you feel you can donate. It will definitely go to good use to look after these sweet, fluffy little creatures.
