'Pramkicker' at The Hen and Chickens Theatre Bar
Donation protected
Hello! We are Ample Aggression Productions and we're putting on a production of Sadie Hasler's Pramkicker at The Hen and Chickens Theatre Bar 16th - 18th, 23rd - 25th September.
We are made up of Emmett Hughes (Producer, "Susie"), Amelia Mazurek ("Jude"), and Eve Lamb (Director)
This is Ample Aggression's first production and we'd love if you were able to chip in a lil bit to help us be able to put on the best production possible! If you are unable to donate, even just sharing this would be a great help!
The money will be going towards the cost of the venue hire, paying people who are coming in to work with us on this, rights, costumes - all your usual theatre production costs!
And now for a bit about the play itself:
I am the Edith fucking Piaf of the empty womb. Je ne regrettay fucking rien.
Jude has always known she doesn't want kids. Her sister Susie isn't sure if her ovaries are twinging or if she just needs a wee.
One day, in a café full of 'yummy mummies', Jude loses the plot and kicks a pram. Then gets arrested. Then gets sent to anger management. Susie goes along for the ride and uses the opportunity to confess a secret.
What particularly drew us to this script is its portrayal of the relationship between the sisters. It expertly shows the varying layers within sisterhood, and how the love between them will always bring them back to one another despite any strains they may have between them. We also highly appreciate the text’s ability to address heavy topics – such as rape and abortion – in a way that refuses to shy away from the intensity of them, whilst maintaining a humanity within their portrayals. Motherhood is an overarching theme within the play, offering differing views on the matter and exploring the difficulties that can accompany the decision on whether or not to enter it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this! We'd love to see you there so please do keep your eyes peeled for when the ticket link is all set up! (if you have any of us on socials you'll definitely be seeing it!!)
