- Dear friends, this fundraiser is to help Yusef with his medical expenses and continued care as her recovers from two ruptured brain aneurysms the first one occurred on July 3. He had brain surgery to stop the bleed and then suffered a second one on July 12. A few weeks later he had a third surgery to insert a permanent cerebral shunt.
Yusef was at Emory University Hospital in ICU from July 3 to August 12 then went to Emory long term acute care hospital where he was weaned off the ventilator and then they removed his tracheotomy. His stomach feeding tube remains in place for nutrition he's not eating or drinking by mouth. One of the strokes affected his vocal cords so he's speaking very softly and due to partial face paralysis, it's not clear so it's hard to understand him at times. Thankfully he can write to communicate.
Thanks be to God he is doing well but has a long road to a full recovery. I appreciate all the support, texts, calls, visits, gifts, surprises and love everyone has and continues to show us. We are eternally grateful.
