Kaden Olsen is currently fighting as hard as he can to recover from a tractor accident that occurred at the end of June. He suffered a broken femur, pelvis, both arms, crushed ribs and had a lot of additional internal damage to include severely damaged lungs. The first surgery dealt with the internal bleeding/damage and allowed him to be transported successfully to a hospital that was better equipped to handle his severe condition. He is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with some of the best Doctors, Nurses, and Respiratory Therapists in the country. The next few surgeries dealt with the swelling in his chest cavity and abdomen area. He is now in a position where the surgeons can start working on healing his injuries. The best part of this is that he is still fighting and showing a huge resolve to be a little brother and a roll model for his little sister.
When Kaden landed from the Life Flight from Ukiah General Hospital to the Children's Hospital in Oakland the trauma surgeon said it was one of the worst cases he had seen in his 17 years of experience. 5 days and 5 surgeries later, his progress is staggering and continues to be hopeful. This kid is one of the strongest out there.
We have no idea what the final medical bills will be and this is not a concern at the moment. As the family moves forward, they ask for our continued support in thoughts and prayers. These actions are more than enough. However, if you feel the need to do more, this is a great outlet and would be very much appreciated. Emergency and non emergency surgeries, medical transports, and inpatient care are just a few of the resources being allocated to Kaden during his fight. As he continues to improve this will include physical therapy, family counseling, and continued medical support. This is a marathon and they expect to be in the hospital for the foreseeable future. Updates on his progress and fight will continue to come through the facebook group page.
The amount of prayers, gifts, and kind words have been overwhelming and greatly appreciated by his family. We have had so many people near and far ask what else they can do and this will be so helpful in the long run. No pressure to give a lot or a little or even at all, and know that anything helps. Anything being thoughts, prayers, or financial assistance.
We love our community and Kaden would not have made it this far without you.
Thank you.
