Help Isaa Fight Chronic Granulomatous Disease

Dear Friends and Kindhearted Strangers,

Isaa Abdullah entered this world just two months ago. He is the beloved second son of my brother, Khondakar Ashikur Rahman, and my sister-in-law, Samira Rahman.

While Isaa's birth filled our hearts with happiness, it also carried a shadow of sorrow. Even before he was born, we learned that Isaa had X-linked Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) - a rare and life-threatening condition that severely compromises his immune system. Knowing about his condition from the womb tempered our joy with deep concern, but it has only strengthened our determination to fight for Isa's precious life.

The story of CGD in Isaa's family began in 2019 when his older brother, Ishaaq Abdullah, tragically succumbed to the same disease at just six months old. Ishaaq’s brief life was filled with constant suffering from repeated respiratory infections, leaving a wound in our hearts that has never healed.

Now, with Isaa’s diagnosis, that old heartache has resurfaced. The fear of losing another child looms over my brother and sister-in-law. Isaa’s sole chance rests on a Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, a highly intricate and crucial procedure due to his young age, and is not possible in our home country, Bangladesh. Fortunately, his older sister, Sarah, is an ideal match.

Nevertheless, the expense for this crucial medical intervention, including essential pre- and post-surgery support, is overwhelmingly high, around $150,000. From the first day of his life, Isaa has been under the care of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital in Bangkok, well-known for conducting transplants for CGD cases.

My brother is financially and emotionally exhausted but remains determined to do everything possible to save Isa. He cannot bear the thought of losing another precious son. Our family is doing all we can, but we need your help to give Isa a fighting chance.
