Prayers and Donations for Stephanie's Recovery Journey
Donation protected
God has been tugging on my heart to help the ones I love. We are hanging on by God's faith, and we know that it is all in His plans. I ask that if you cannot donate, that you first please pray, then share! I understand times are hard right now, and we greatly appreciate any help.
On March 19th, 2025, Stephanie Thompson was admitted to Flaget Hospital. She was extremely sick and fighting for her life; she still is. We are on day 23 in the ICU. Prior to being admitted, Stephanie was battling a UTI for almost a month, going back and forth to the doctors for medication changes. She even visited an ER, where they said she was severely dehydrated, gave her fluids, and sent her on her way. Her body became septic, and we learned that she had pneumonia. Her oxygen and breathing became so bad they had to put her on a vent. She was transferred to Norton's Women's and Children's Hospital.
Upon medical tests at the hospital, we have learned that Stephanie has Legionnaires' disease. Legionnaires' disease is a severe form of pneumonia that can be inhaled through water droplets that contain legionella bacteria. Legionella bacteria can multiply in water systems made by humans, like air conditioners, shower faucets, hot tubs, and soil. We honestly believe she came in contact with the legionella bacteria through the hot tub while in Gatlinburg for my daughter's cheer competition, just two weeks prior to being admitted.
The medical staff has been pumping her with antibiotics to heal her lungs and fentanyl to keep her in a medical coma to give her time to heal. We knew the time on the vent would be coming short. Through friends and family, we were able to get her moved to Audubon Hospital with an amazing doctor who felt they were not being as aggressive as they could and felt there were other methods they could try.
On April 9th, 2025, they had to insert a tracheotomy. This will allow the doctors more time to get her lungs healed. Stephanie will have the tracheotomy for at least 6 weeks. They are slowly weaning her off her sedation and allowing her to wake up. We don't know what the road ahead looks like; we are just dealing with it day by day and praying for the best outcome. Please continue to pray hard for our family.
I am asking for donations so that we can continue to help pay for Stephanie's monthly bills and help with the burden of the medical bills that I am sure will start rolling in. My dad, brother, and sister have been put on medical leave at work to help care for her. We greatly appreciate any help, even if it's prayers or sharing this GoFundMe.
Prayer for Healing
Dear God, I come before You today,
With a heavy heart and in need of Your grace,
I pray for healing, for Stephanie and for others,
To feel Your love and comfort, like none other.
Please heal the pain, both physical and emotional,
And bring peace and calmness, that's so crucial,
Comfort us who are struggling, and in need of Your touch,
And surround them with Your love, which is so much.
Guide the hands of the doctors and nurses,
To bring comfort and healing, and ease the pain that surfaces,
Provide the strength and courage, to Stephanie who is fighting,
And hope and faith, to keep on surviving.
Dear God, we know that You are with us,
Through the ups and downs, the joys and fuss,
So we put our trust in You, to bring us through this strife,
And bring healing and peace, to restore our life.
In Your name, we pray, Amen.
