Prayers and Support for Lee Puryear and Family
Donation protected
Friends of Lee Puryear would like to start a fundraiser to help him and his little family through their long road to recovery. Lee is 40 years old and is married to his best friend Brittany and they recently purchased their forever home. Lee chose a career path of doing what he loved and is well-known for, working on motorcycles, preferably Harley Davidson. With the sudden news of the local shop closing its doors, he had to figure out the next steps. He decided to continue serving our area by servicing motorcycles. He took the scary leap of starting a business of his own, Bear City Cycles. At the time, they were also expecting their first child. As many know, starting out being self-employed it is rare that health insurance is even an option. Like any new parent, he worked hard to provide for his new family and is a very proud daddy to their daughter Leah, who is now 9 months old. On Sunday, January 15th, Lee went from a relaxing weekend at home with his wife and daughter to fighting for his life at Vidant. Lee woke up with an unbearable headache, throwing up, and unable to walk. Brittany immediately called 911. An ambulance took Lee to Craven where they gave him a CT scan and discovered bleeding in the brain. They did not waste any time and airlifted him to Vidant and he has been in intensive care since. They confirmed he did have a stroke, his liver and kidney are not functioning as they should, internal bleeding throughout his body, and many other obstacles. He has undergone many tests and surgery to help stop the bleeding. They still have him on a ventilator due to being so weak. He can wiggle his toes and open his eyes when he hears you. Every day Brittany, Chris (his brother), or his parents have been by his side cheering him on. Brittany has been out of work, sleepless days and nights in the hospital chair caring and encouraging Lee to keep fighting, balancing being a mama to Leah, and updating family and friends when she meets with the team of doctors. She has been incredible! She is so strong and he is too! However, they are so much stronger together! Please let’s pull together and help them with continued prayers and financial support, so they can focus on the long road to recovery! Please share with as many friends as possible. Any amount of support would be appreciated. Without Lee working his business doesn’t bring in any income, but the everyday bills and many medical bills do not stop. Your continued love & prayers are appreciated more than we can ever express.
