Let's unite with empathy, inspire hope, and carry on Augie's legacy.
We would appreciate your help in gathering donations for Augie's ICU expenses.
- Donations will go towards settling Augie's ICU expenses from January 2022.
- Any extra funds will be directed to support pet owners facing emergency medical costs at Southeast Veterinary of Neurology in Boynton Beach.
Augie, a young and healthy English Labrador, was diagnosed with a severe rare illness called Discospondylitis at the age of four and a half. His condition progressed rapidly from a limp in his front right paw to paralysis from the waist down and sepsis within five days.
During the initial week in the neurology ICU at Southeast Veterinary Neurology in Boynton Beach, time was of the essence as we awaited the results of Augie's urine culture to determine the appropriate antibiotics to combat the aggressive infection.
Fortunately, Augie was prescribed the correct medication just in time and astonishingly defied the odds of less than 10% chance of survival. He started regaining nerve sensation in his hind left paw and began his journey to recovery.
Following a three-week stay in the neurology ICU at SeVN, my parents and I devoted ourselves to assisting Augie in overcoming severe nerve damage, loss of rear mobility, and complete incontinence.
After being diagnosed with Discospondylitis, Augie managed to stand up and walk without any assistance within the first year.
